Actress Bela Padilla did not hold back in her recent interview with Karen Davila, where she compared the fashion sense of so-called “nepo babies” in the Philippines to the style she observed in London.
“You don’t see people wearing branded stuff, like, super in your face, you know? If they do, it’s one. It’s one piece in their whole outfit. It’s not brand on brand on brand,” the 34-year-old actress said.
According to Padilla, she finds the style of local nepo babies “tacky” and lacking refinement. “Dito, it’s so tacky. I’m sorry to say, but it’s so tacky. Sorry. Nababaduyan kasi ako. Brand on brand on brand. Guys, have some, ano naman, have some class. Kainis,” she added.
Padilla lived in London for four years, where she said she enjoyed a more understated yet sophisticated culture. “Simple pero engrande. I saw so many things that I wouldn’t see here. I watched plays, full-on productions. I got to experience the efficiency of a first world country,” she recalled, noting that she shared many of these experiences with her former boyfriend at the time.
Her remarks have since sparked discussions online, with many weighing in on her candid critique of Filipino nepo babies’ fashion choices.
